Part 1

Definitions

Ratio, means it compares numbers. It shows how one number relates to another number. Also there are 2 different types of ratios.

Part to part ratio- A part to part ratio is a ratio that compares different parts of the group to each other.
eg.  The ratio of red to black tiles. 1 1 1 1 1 1 to 3 1 1 is 6:3 in lowest terms is 2:1.

Part to Whole ratio- A part to whole ratio is a ratio that compares one part of the group to the whole group.
eg. The ratio of red tiles to total tiles  1 1 1 1 1 1 to 1 1 1 1 1 1 3 1 1 is 6:9 in lowest terms 2:3.

Rate - compares two quantities into two different units.

Proportion - A problem and finding the solution through.  equivalent fractions and or ratios

Part2
1.5 hours to travel 360 kilometers is about _____km/h.

2.Emma saves 28 cents of every dollar that she earns.  Emma earned $75 last week.  How much money did Emma save last week?

Part 3

What are the three ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true?
3/4 = 12/16  or 4/9 = 16/32

Part 4

I have made my own video.

Part5

1.Does this seem fair?
1a) No, this does not seem fair because a homeless man is punished more and a rich CEO is treated more nicely for doing something worse.

2.With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above.  Does it seem just and fair?
2a) No it is not just and fair. Roy did something not as bad but got a bigger punishment. Then the other guy did something bigger and got less time.

3. Why have you made this choice?
3a) I have made this choice because the CEO stole $3 billion and only got 40 months.
Then Roy who only took $100 dollars got 15 years in jail!

4.What would you have done if you were the judge?
4a) If I were the judge  I would Give the CEO a longer time in jail and give the homeless man maybe a year in jail,  and when he gets out maybe give him some money so he can start over and get a job.

I searched the average height of an 13 year old boy and got 5 ft and 2 in. Then I measured the boy on the screen and got 3 cm. (3 cm = 5'2). Then I measured the tree and got 9 cm so 9 divided by 3 = 3. Three boys is as tall as the tree. 5.2 x 3 = 15.6. So the tree is about 15'6 ft.
