Casselyn's Unproject

                                            Algebra

A variable is a symbol for a number we don't know yet. it is usually
y a letter like x or y.

A number on it's own is called constant.

A coefficient is a number used to multiply a variable.

An operator is symbol that represents an operation.

Step 1 : Subtract both sides  by 4 .

Step 2 :  Simplify. 4-4 = 0  on the left and 14 - 4  = 10 on the right. then we need to think about how to remove the coefficient 2.

Step 3:  Since the opposite of  multiplication is division. I'm going to divide both sides by 2. simplify . 2/2  = 1 on the left. 10/2 = 5 on the right  so the answer is x = 5.

Check:

2(5) + 4 = 14

10 + 4 = 14

 14 = 14
